At first glance, you might think that bird watching is not very complicated, something which doesn’t require a lot of skill. But you’re wrong! There’s a lot to learn about bird watching. The behaviour, the size, colour, shapes, markings and plumage are common characteristics of all birds but only the experts can tell some species apart. In the company of a qualified nature guide, we’d like to turn you into an authentic bird watcher. In the fantastic Ria Formosa nature reserve you’ll be able to observe numerous species of flowers, butterflies and rare birds, in places where tourists are seldom seen. Get to see the garganey, the little tern, the avocet, the red-necked nightjar, the shoveler duck and the spoonbill among many other species of rare birds.  Spend two hours learning about the mysteries of bird habits and increase your knowledge of wildlife. The diversity of habitats in the north east of the Nature Reserve will amaze you.


THIS EXPERIENCE INCLUDES:

• Meeting point is the car park of Quinta do Lago – access point to Gigi beach (near the foot bridge to the beach)
• Nature walk accompanied by a nature guide – biologist.
• Provided for the trip: telescopic, binoculars and bird identification guides.
• The route starts at the foot bridge opposite Gigi beach and the group will then head along a footpath which goes through the fen. On this trip you will explore the main environments of the Ria Formosa in the Ludo area and pass streams and fresh and salt water lakes.
• Route goes through the districts of Loulé and Faro

Times: Available from Monday to Sunday
